Devon Log Stores is based on a livestock farm near Crediton, Devon. The holding comprises 100 acres of grassland used for rearing cattle & sheep, and 65 acres of woodland, some of which has been created by us in the last 20 years.

The timber used to make our stores comes from Thornes Wood near Butterleigh, Tiverton. Although a commercial woodland, Thornes is managed by us to encourage wildlife. Our harvesting operations are small scale to minimise any environmental impact and we take every opportunity to enhance wildlife habitat where possible. Trees are felled to provide growing space for their neighbours and young trees are regenerated in any gaps or clearings created.

Sawmilling takes place in the woods using our mobile sawmill. (see ‘services’). The timber is pressure treated locally and the stores are constructed in our workshop on the farm.
